This is diffiult to write, but my dear grandfather has recently passed away. I did not get to see him much because we were separated by seas and politics. However, I am eternally grateful that I was able to see him 2 years ago and spend time knowing him.

He took us around town and showed us the sites vague from my childhood memories, including the monuments of war. He then bought us pizza and sat together with us outside with the sun shining on our faces. He took us to the lake where he fished and had a country cottage nearby with his trusted dog. He sat together with us and showed me childhood photos together where he held me in his arms and I saw love on his face. When he asked us if we wanted ice cream, we replied that it was OK as there was none left. We did not know that he got onto his bike at night and peddled in the dark just to bring his grandchildren some ice cream. We sat together and we ate and we were joyous that we were able to spend this time together after years of being apart.

My grandfather was a brave man who faced and survived many trials in his life. His upbringing was not easy, but he did not let it stand in his way and he made his own success. My grandfather was a good man but he also had some faults. I know there was goodness and darkness but I pray to God that goodness overcame the darkness.

Grandfather, I dedicate this to you. May God have mercy. I hope you are with Him.

‘Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted’ -Matthew 5:4

‘So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand ‘ -Isaiah 41:10

‘For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands’ -Corinthians 5:1

There is hope for all. Grandfather, I love you. Thank you for our happy times together. May you be eternally at peace, my grandfather.

Бог с вами. я люблю вас, дедушка.
